چکیده

A review of the state-of-the-art sensing technology for automatic milking systems (AMS) suggests that while the sensing systems currently being used lack the sensitivity for automated diversion of ‘abnormal’ milk, they do provide sufficient information for motivated dairy producers to achieve milk quality that meets or exceeds national averages. Electrical conductivity and milk color are the most widely used on-line milk sensing methods and deviation in milk yield and milking interval are widely used supporting diagnostic techniques. A number of other methods using visible and other light spectra have shown promise in detecting milk abnormalities and measuring various components of milk. Several methods of measuring the Somatic Cell Count of milk at cow-side have been demonstrated and may be applied to AMS in the near future. Developments in AMS milk sensing systems point toward the use of inputs from a number of sources including milk composition, animal behaviors, and milking characteristics combined and analyzed by centralized ‘smart’ system to improve diagnostic accuracy.

Sensors and management support in high-technology milking.

Two directions can be distinguished in the development of high-tech milking equipment: 1) high-capacity milking parlors with a high throughput of cows per person per hour and 2) automatic milking systems in which manual labor is replaced by a milking robot. High-capacity milking parlors are developed in such a way that one operator is able to milk many cows, partly by automation and partly by o...

al implications for stakeholders: Automatic milking systems (AMS)s can be operated successfully within a grass based milk production system and milk yields comparable to many commercial batch milking systems can be achieved when grazing management is managed in order to control cow traffic The fact that milk yield/cow/day was not significantly affected by reducing milking frequency from 1.8 to ...

Impact of Automatic Milking on Excretion of Antibiotic Residues

Prevention of antibiotic residues in milk is an important aspect in milk production to ensure health protection for the consumer and high quality of milk for dairy processing. Limited information is available on the potential impact of milking frequencies associated with Automatic Milking (AM) on excretion of veterinary drugs in milk. Under experimental conditions the excretion of antibiotics i...

Changes in milking parameters with robotic milking

The aim of this present study is to describe changes occurring during the milking of cows in various periods following the introduction of an AMS (automatic milking system). The following cow milking parameters were analysed: milkings per cow per day, milking yield, milking speed and milking duration. An increase in milk yield in AMS barns has been found to be possible, but it is affected by a ...

Application of Cleaning and Cooling Principles to Robotic Milking

The key to properly diagnosing cleaning and sanitation problems is identifying the types of bacteria present in bulk tank milk. Periodic culturing of bulk tank milk is also an essential tool to diagnose milk quality issues related to mastitis. These methods are described in greater detail in Reinemann et al. (2002) and Ruegg and Reinemann (2002). Collection of the type of bulk tank culture data...
